| Thanksgiving was the usual at my parents' house. Just brought over some Frasier dvds and ate dinner, though I couldn't even eat 2 plates full, so I didn't really get to stuff myself as should be the way. But Friday and Saturday I had George, Naomi, Robert and Daniel over and it was so much fun. Just our usual hanging around while gaming, ragging on each other, repeating funny lines from video games, busting out Sailor Moon songs and trying to break peoples' concentration during karaoke. Good times, good times. It was also amusing to bust out my box of doll horrors I got from VotD to terrify people with. Starting with the Blythe, then a naked, scalpless Venus pullip, then the armless Clarity and finally the floating BNP head. Hee. I'm glad Daniel fit in okay with us, too. It's crazy that we all share that crazy-ass sense of humor and it can veer into strange topics, but he was eager to come back the second night and said he was sad that he might not ever see George or Naomi again, which...I hope isn't the case?
I'm sad that Clarity's hair is kinda fucked though since with the wig styling it's impossible to repair. LOVE the Soldier Rabbit Dal though. So glad I got her! I managed to snag all the $5 minis and ultimate grab bag, too. Yay!
Remember how I was worried about Little Gray's drooling and thought he just poked his mouth? Now the mama cat's doing it!! What the hell kind of sickness just makes them drool?? Argh...drive me crazy, cats!!
Christmas planning is going fairly well. Hastings had a good deal going on so I got a few of the craft books Mom has on her Amazon list and Amazon had a really nice price for Fringe which I know she's been wanting. So what does she do yesterday? Ask me "You haven't gotten me Fringe have you?" and I'm like "Uh...wtf are you asking?? Don't buy any dvd sets unless I ask you about them!" and she's like "Oh, good!". Gah, there's never any surprises for Christmas! I gave her my specific list and she's already like "There's two ZQ autographs on ebay, tell me which one you want."...>_> *sigh*
Through Hastings, I also got Danny some cheap game with a drum kit and he'll get my extra copy of Singstar Pop. They had some awesome deals on games and dvds...for myself. *cough* Apparently my dad finally turned up a list too, of weird shit of course and I'd like to take advantage of cybermonday sales if they would freaking pass it on to me. Robert's has been ordered, as well. Y'know I really don't see the point of calling someone to verify the order placed since...if I was placing a bunk order, I would just give them my cell phone and tell them "Oh sure that was my CC and I wanted to place it". | comments: 6 comments or Leave a comment   |
| Dang, everybody else is johnny-on-the-spot with their Christmas lists! I need to do mine too, but I have no heart behind it. I've got a slew of stuff on my Amazon wishlist but it's more of filling out collections or buying reminders to buy if on sale than actual must-have stuff. Plus, I'm actually working on clearing stuff OUT of my house. I do need the second volume of Absolute Sandman since I of course, put it off and now it's out of stock everywhere. D'oh.
If any of my cyberfriends wants to exchange gifts with me, will you let me know by replying to this? I'm not too good at guessing if I fall into the gift-exchange category, so bluntess will work fine. Feel free to also leave what kind of things are expected and either a specific wishlist or just generalities (ie, what size doll clothes, animals collected, etc). :D
I still can't believe it's the end of November! Geez! This whole year just disappeared!
And though this is not xmas-related, I have to share that I got pulled over on Friday!! My first time, driving the 3 blocks from my mom's house! And for what? Not signaling! Robert who drives with me often, will tell you that I am quite insane about people following traffic laws. Okay, so the street I travel on crosses an intersection and when it does, the continuation of it is about 10 feet over from where it had been. Woo, city planning. So you kind of have to turn the wheel a bit, but you're still going on the same street, so to me, that means I'm going straight. Because if I signal there, that should indicate that I'm turning onto the street that's crossing it and going fully left or right. Am I wrong? I haven't looked up the statute, but the cop didn't really put up any defense when I said this and just continued looking bored and distracted. Oh and I "seemed nervous". Gee, I wonder why?? | Well, ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) snarky_imp is attempting to nudge me out of my livejournal coma and since someone has noticed that I haven't posted for 2 1/2 months (ouch...) I feel the need to oblige. It hasn't been an intentional avoidance, I stop by here several times a day to check everyone's posts, and I've had stuff to say, I just...I'm not even sure. LJ lethargy, I guess? Here's what I had started on a few weeks ago apparently:
"Wow, almost 2 months since I last posted. Guess I am due for an update. Let's see, the last post was about our little butterscotch kitten and he's doing just fine. His name is Remy now and he's a little spaz baby still, and getting him fixed doesn't seem to have quelled that. I'm still his mama though, so all is well. Princess Meow Meow is still...there. She seems content to just sleep in the yard and be pretty.

At least I remember what I was going to say. I wore a dress to work. Twice! Everyone pretty much flipped their shit as a result, as I knew they would. Just a simple black dress that I wore with the kickass bright green boots I found at Walmart. Everyone's also been commenting on the new shirts I've bought, which...are new, but not really that different from what I normally wear? I guess I just wear the other stuff too much. I don't know why people even make note of these things. I got some awesome ninja cowl shirts though and of course, more kickass shoes from Hot Topic.
I've been doing better about playing more games, since I've become more of a collector than a gamer, at this point. I bought a Wii, don't know if that was mentioned. So I started Paper Mario and have New Super Mario Bros on its way and I'm trying to re-unlock everything on Mario Kart. Not as much fun as I thought it would be. One of our new co-workers, Daniel, is a nerd, so I've had him and Robert over a couple times for some gaming. Not often enough to actually start an involved game though. He actually has quite the busy social life, though most of it is D&D. ;P
I've flaked out on NaNoWriMo for the...3rd time I believe.
Yesterday, the bags I ordered for work back in August(!!) finally came in though. I was so relieved! The boss liked them too. I was super-worried since they never even sent me a proof to check over even though they said the artwork was messed up. And then 400 bags just show up with no other reply! Geez!
I have some doll things to talk about, but I think I'll just make that a seperate post.
Just got off a stressful week with the cats. Little Gray was drooling a LOT and I had no idea why. Still don't, except for all the frightening things the internet said it could be. I'm hoping he just tried to eat a stick and poked his tongue or something. I hate that mystery stuff cause it's like do I stress them out more by taking them to the vet and then shift work and pay $60 to find out nothing's wrong? Or do I wait around worrying and wonder if I'm going to come home to a dead cat. -_- At least kids can somewhat tell you what's wrong. Then Sasha had one of her bad runs of diarreah at the same time. I think it's cause I had been giving her a tiny bit of the wet food I give to the outside cats, but only a spoonful. She just likes it so much, I thought she could handle that small amount. But it might've been the stress of having new people over too. But she has, what I'll call "lazy sphincter" which means I have a whole lot of cleaning up to do throughout the week. It lasted a lot longer than normally, so I bought some medicine and forced it on her and then found out I was doing it wrong, but thankfully, THANKFULLY she seems over it now.
And in less grossness, I finally got new glasses. I though my eyesight was getting worse, but when I saw the dr. he said the rx was the same. But when I went up to Alb and got a new pair, I realized it was just that my old ones had become so tinted and scratched, that I couldn't see as well! Geez! I guess it is good to get a new pair at least every other year.

| Well, another 3 day weekend largely wasted. I spent a good part of the time acting as Cat Whisperer to Mom's new yard cat. I should also say that I was wrong about a couple things in the last entry. Mom was freaked cause she thought I made the appt with the vet on the other side of town and didn't realize I'd gone back to our regular vet. So that's been resolved. The other is that I'm pretty sure that kitten wasn't born feral, I think he was abused. He has half his whiskers cut off and freaks if a hand comes toward him.
I worked with just trying to make him comfortable around me the first day, even bringing out the roast beef bribes, though the hand dodging thing made it hard to pet or catch him. I Mishka out with me and when I realized he was reacting positively towards her, I brought the White Cat in the back to put him more at ease. Kind of like Cesar Milan and Daddy. It was funny to watch the kitten trying to catch Big White's tail and him getting all miffed. I eventually did manage to get a hand on him the second day and once I could get him in my arms, he immediately settled and was purring, nuzzling and licking. Awww. Oh, did I mention this cat is a complete ball of energy? If ever there was a case to be made for cat ADD meds, it's this one here. He's always doing the kneading thing, even while eating and just sitting on the concrete. The rest of the time, he's in motion, attacking all the plants, not able to look at anything for more than 2 secs before distracted by something else. Running towards people, then flying backwards in fear. Nutbar delux.
Even when I'm holding him, he's all over me trying to find some place to suckle. Including my nose, chin and ears. Still haven't settled on a name, though I think Spazzy would suit him well. Vet appt's under Tiny Kitty, though I kicked around Oliver (Twist) for the orphan angle. Oh and then last night, I get a call at 8:30 from my mom saying he was stuck up on the roof. So I ended up climbing the ladder and he still wouldn't come to me consistantly and was chasing him around the roof in the dark. Fun! At least he didn't claw me up on the way down since I just tucked him in my shirt. I've got my battle scars from the rest of weekend though, from his biting/clawing (in play, I don't think he's a mean one) and the damn mosquitos and ants.
Fluffy Meow Meow (my name for her, though Mom's switched to Princess) is home from the vet and mom's got her shut up in the studio (garage). Come to think of it, we've had a lot of vet recovery/quarantined animals in there. She seems fine, but she was completely docile before we took her in, so I expected as much. I'm hoping she and the kitten will take to each other and live harmoniously in Mom's backyard, though I think Princess would be a very good indoor cat and since she's remarkably low-key, I have the feeling she'll be making it indoors once she gets her shots. Tiny Kitten on the other hand, def needs to be outdoors since the house would be demolished with him in it.
In non-cat news, Wal-mart got in bags of the coconut M&Ms and my beloved Strawberried Peanut Butter ones. Yum! I was afraid they had already been pulled from the shelves, since I had only seen the coconut several months ago at Target and just the front check-out sized bags of PB at Walmart. Gots to stock up! Damn limited edition food.
And Scribblenauts in one week! Can't wait!!

I'm so tired today. I've been sleeping terribly for the last...month? Gawd. I woke up a few nights ago thinking my or the neighbor's house was on fire, but I think it was just the California smoke coming in with the storm. Or maybe the pecan orchards or something. Who knows, but wandering around the yard at 4:30 in the morning looking for phantom smoke doesn't lead to much restfulness, in addition to my usual plethora of apocolyptic or similarly disturbing nightmares. Last night was a new one of getting stuck in some kind of tornado full of lightning, being thrown around by wind and trying to grab onto somebody.
One from a few weeks ago had us driving back into town from a trip and as we were driving down my neighborhood, everyone had left their houses and were sitting in their cars because it was unsafe to be anywhere else, but especially in their houses, so the street was just lined with these people cowering in their cars and us wondering if it was safe to enter my house. Damn dreams.
Saw District 9 last week. I found it very unsettling and disturbing and it's unfathomable to me that it's being marketed as some summer adventure movie and that they're making a freaking video game on it. UGH. I actually started crying during the weapon-testing scene it was so uncomfortable to watch. Not saying it wasn't good in a dark way, but geez, at least prepare people.
And it's almost fair time again. I'm still trying to decide if I should enter more pics, or if I even have anything worth entering. I'd like to do a bjd this time, but I'm afraid they'll think I'm just riding the doll train again. Also means we need to go out and construct a fair booth for the library, but Deanne is still with us and if the fair director hasn't lied to me, we should be able to go throughout this month to actually, y'know, make it look presentable amidst all the burned out lightbulbs, peeling paint and broken asbestos tiles. We're going to head out there tomorrow morning and hopefully they'll have the grounds open. If not, we'll hang out at Sonic until we decide to go back to wor...I mean, we'll have to try again later.
I actually found a 500gb external hard drive on clearance at Target for $50. I need to see if it actually works since I don't think my comp has 2.0 usb slots, but if it does, that would be so much better than trying to burn everything to dvds. *fingers crossed* They had Heroes S3 too, which I hadn't planned on buying anytime soon, but it's on sale and has damn target bonus crap, so I'm going to be lame and buy it cause I'm ZQ's bitch. They even put him biggest on the cover. :( Oh! I got these awesome bookmarks though!

Oh oh! I finally got Minuk, too! My last of the Girls of Many Lands dolls! Next time I have the camera out, I'll grab one of the display. Well, no Kathleen, but unless I get the luck of the awesome and find her at a garage sale or goodwill or something, my set is complete. I need to see if Minuk was supposed to come with any accessories cause I thought she was supposed to have a bag, but maybe not. She came with her book though and since hers was my favorite, it all worked out. Even got her for less than my target price!

| First off: 100 Themes
I haven't seen anything from my other two buds in this, so can I infer that I'm not the only one that got bogged down this month? If not and you guys have been waiting on me, I'm really really sorry. *^^
Projects:
I'm trying to (re)learn how to draw and paint. But I can't really do much with the living room a wreck and that's slow going. Working the weekend hasn't helped either since everything gets thrown off course. Mom got a new addition to her yard cats (currently there's Bon White, Domino, Tree Kitten and now Fluffy Meow Meow), who's bone thin and also pregnant. She's got giant snow feet though and a mountain cat face, so once she gets fed, I think she'll be really gorgeous. But Monday's going to involve working out vet schedules so we can get her fixed. Cause more kittens, we do not need.
Excitement:
Apparently there's some big doll convention in Albuquerque, but it's a mix bag of bjds, vinyl and baby dolls(?). And $300 with no discernable day pass. Thankfully, a coworker's already taken off part of that week so I have no choice in the matter, but DollPeddlar is hosting a bjd meetup on that Tuesday night and lo and behold, the two days I CAN get off that week are Tuesday and Wednesday! Score! So Mom and I are going to drive up and do some shopping and I'll finally be able to talk at people who aren't going to glaze over or recoil in fear. Although, I may be doing the recoiling, because the DoA thread is now talking about giant boy dolls getting married at the Sept meet. Including a Sabik. :( *sigh* Someone up there has a crapload of Soom MDs though, so that will be neat to see in person! I'm already trying to decide who all I should bring. ^_^ I already reserved the hotel room (2 beds!) so I can overbring and just keep the extra up in the room.
Toys:
Still haven't seen a Sasha Moxie down here at any of the Big Three. So strange. Kmart did get in the black BFC Ink girl though, so it's not completely a race thing. They also got the big BFC Inks and Mom bought one. I didn't like the brunette, though she has the best clothes, but the blonde has a really nice face. That's the one Mom got since she looks like a hippie. No sign of the third girl (the black one, of course) though I'll probably get her if I can see her in person first. The clothes on her and the extra sets at walmart are kind of plain but I do like the argyle vest. They look like what I think the American Girl dolls should look like. To me, the AGs have always looked like 5 year olds, even though they're like 12 in the books, which has always put me off. These BFC ones also have jointed knees and torsos, but no arms, for god knows what reason, since that would have made them really awesome dolls. Guess you can't have everything though.
Waiting for Sept 1st to get my next bjd, Cookie. She's a yo-sd sized doll from a company that just made clothes so far as I can tell. But to start they're including the wig, eyes, faceup and oufit and Featherfall's having a free shipping sale as well AND they have her for $20 cheaper than Jpopdolls. Sweet. She's got freaky pupil-less eyes though which I'll have to change, probably to the werewolf eyes that Adam had on for that short while since they're both green. I think that's why puts me off of the Soom dolls, too, esp the tinies. They look so dead and creepy with the pupils gone.
Technology:
Mom bought an external DVD burner, so I can start backing up the two hard drives on my desktop since I have no clue how much longer it's going to last and I very much don't want to lose all my photos. Each drive is like 300 gigs though, so this is going to take awhile, but...
Scribblenauts this month! Yay!! Only a couple more weeks! I even reserved this one, to get the chicken hat and cause I really really can not wait to play it. I very much hope it's going to be as cool as it looks on YouTube.

| Some quick pics! Mom bought Alexis and Daniela and I'll get Sophie when I can find her. Hopefully Kmart will have her tomorrow. The pink and purple wigs are seperate buys and I'm pretty displeased with the quality of the pink wig. Uneven bangs, some lank that was supposed to be bang swept to the side and her painted on hair shows through to fix the lopsidedness. Grrr. Daniela's primary wig has jacked up bangs too, so I'll have to pay better attention in the future. My only other complaint is that I wish the head was smaller or body bigger. These dolls look too realistic to pull off the large-headed "anime" asthetic. Just my opinion anyhow. Katie's still love, Daniela's second esp in the purple wig and Alexis will probably grow on me more when I change her hair again.

| Man, getting rid of the weeds in my backyard after the ginormous storm on Thursday was a major pain in the ass.
So to feel better I bought stuff! Wee! Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus on the PS2, ArtAttackiful Moxie Avery and LIV Katie. There was only one without wonky eyes and Mom wanted Daniela so I decided to get while the gettin' was good. And Avery's clothes are awesome!
They still don't have any Sasha though!!! WTF!! They had at least one of each of the other girls from the Jammaz and Art series and the BFF packs w/ Avery and Sophina, but not a Sasha to be seen! And they didn't have the blonde LIV doll either which was weird? They did have the Jukus and even all the accessories and wigs for them and the LIVs. | The worst of work is finally behind me so I can regularly post again and not feel like just spazzing across the board. So for that 100 themes thing I have: Serisun, Snarky_Imp and Sakana_Hime as my partners in crime on this endeavour, yes?
Okay, here's my plan. We'll start tonight with 4 themes and have through the weekend on this first one. So they would be "due" Sunday night. I'll do a random sequence and put it up on flickr so we can see the order OR we can draw them out of a hat and that way we won't know which one is coming next.
